Location: Rental Sales Gallery (behind Portland Art Museum), 1237 SW 10th Ave, Portland, OR 97205
Materials: The basics are colored pencils and a sketchbook, approx 9” x 12”. Additional optional supplies will be presented upon registration and discussed in class.

Class format: Each week, we’ll meet downtown at Portland Art Museum’s Rental Sales Gallery (RSG) to strengthen our drawing skills. RSG is a vibrant, comfortable, and welcoming space, positively brimming with inspiring artworks created by your neighbors in Oregon and Washington state.

Pam will lead a brief discussion and pencil-and-paper exercises to begin each session. Then participants will choose an artwork to focus on and draw. There is plenty of time for quiet drawing as well as individual instruction and feedback.

While drawing local artwork, you’ll sharpen your observation skills and explore the surprising versatility of colored pencils. Let yourself be delighted when you see that you actually can draw what you see — and have fun doing it. Plus, the benefits extend far beyond your sketchbook.
