Never heard of Open Studios? Here's the scoop:
Once a year, an Oakland-based non-profit organization called ProArts invites East Bay artists to participate in Open Studios, held during the first two weekends in June. It is an opportunity for the public to visit artists where they work, ask questions, and of course view and purchase artwork. ProArts promotes the event and the artists, exhibits one piece by each participating artist in their downtown gallery, and publishes guides with maps showing the locations of participating studios.
When you come to my home studio this weekend, you'll get a two-fer.
Besides checking out my art and workspace, you can also meet my jewelry designer friend Maree Kay Parisi, and see what she's been making. You'll love her stuff!
More than just art.
Demystifying and sharing the art-making process is important to me, which is why I want to share my humble, slightly chaotic creative space with you. Feel free to ask questions and poke around a bit. Oh, and of course there will be snacks and beverages. :)
And while you're here, consider whether you'd like to:
- arrange to have a craft party for your moms group or book club here
- rent my studio space for a few hours, complete with tools, materials, and advice, to work on your special project
- take those private painting lessons you've been dreaming about
