From our Clients, Collaborators & Students:
Here’s what a few of my art students, mural clients, and other collaborators have said about working with me:
You are the best kind of teacher — not too pushy and not too passive! —Michelle B
The mural is beautiful! It’s such a lovely addition to the lobby and I really like that it represents a community effort. — Senior Program Director, Fred Finch Youth Center
I came to this mosaic class not knowing “how to” and I left with wonderful mosaic coasters, made by me! So happy! — Velma D
Recently, I bought a starter kit of acrylic paints but I continued to stare at a blank canvas. Taking this class got my hands wet and lessened a lot of my anxiety to start painting. — Trisha A
… Her workshop is a playground — a materials goldmine that is so helpfully organized! — Liz E
Spreading, squishing, swirling the “frosting” glue layed the texture on and walking out with a treasure filled my heart with inspiration. Mahalo! — Karen J
Pam was very patient & genuinely talented. Appreciate her generosity of spirit. — Donna R
… You create a safe space for a positive working relationship… — Connie A, community mural participant
Awards & Such
I was honored to receive a Local Heroes Award in 2011, with my art partner Claudia Goodman-Hough. Together we facilitated this community mosaic mural at Redwood Heights School in Oakland. Over 100 parents, students, teachers, Girl Scouts and neighbors took part in this project!
I received another Local Heroes Award in 2016 for a series of vintage postcard-themed murals in Oakland’s Dimond District.
This project was funded in part by the City of Oakland’s Graffiti Abatement Program.
Recipients of these awards are nominated by community members, and I am grateful for the kudos.
